When you make some changes and start moving in the right track you slowly notice some good results. You are crossing goals off your list one by one. Searching for new opportunities you continue your growth on a daily basis. Your thinking has changed and become more focused. You take a step back one day and notice your successes and smile.
This step back can be a set back. It’s great to take a look at your successes and enjoy them, but it takes away from the bigger picture. Taking that step back can slow you down and could allow you a chance to fall back into your old ways. You could slip right back into your old routine from a few weeks or months ago. You say to yourself “I’ve worked this hard, I deserve a day off”. That day off could turn to two days off. And then those two days becomes a permanent weekend thing. Eventually you add Friday nights to your break time. Then you magically have a three-day weekend of break time. So instead of working a full 7 days towards your goals your only using 4 days. During those four days you have work, school, roommates, friends, family, and hobbies to deal with too. Now it becomes a hassle to read books and eventually to put your growth on the back burner and slowly forget about it.
Don’t let this happen to you. Never let your successes get to your head. Keep your feet on the ground and your eye on the prize. Taking that one day off could take 6 months just to catch back up to where you could have been at. Either you are dedicated and make some trade-offs that will allow you to succeed with your plan. Or you will be going through this weird cycle for most of your life. Grind really hard for a few weeks or a month or two; take sometime off, because you deserve it; fall into a trap and take a month or six off and then try to pick up the pieces of where you left off six months ago. You’re only wasting your own time.
Since time if very limited and we only have so much of it each day. We need to be really smart how we use our time. If we use our time wisely it will greatly benefit us in the long run. If we squander our time we will regret it for years to come. Remember it’s not going to be easy. It’s not going to be a walk in the park. It takes all your energy to get yourself up a moving some days, but if you get past that and just do it. You will be able to continue your growth and be able to achieve more with your time.
