Breakfast, it’s kind of important!

You wake up late! You rush into the shower, get ready in a hurry, and slam the door behind you as you start your day, late. You head to work and get there just in time. You begin to tackle the days work and your stomach starts to gurgle. You notice your energy levels are down and you’re getting sleepy. You rush to the coffee pot in hopes that it will bring you back to life and help cure your morning slump.

You make it to lunch! Your starving and could eat an entire elephant. You order 2 sandwiches, 2 bags of chips, and the largest beverage container you could find. You side down at one of the tables and begin operation cure starvation. You eat it all and slowly realize maybe you ate more food than you should have. You get back to the office ready to take a nap. So you down some more coffee and pray that you have enough energy to make it through the rest of the day.

Breakfast is more important that you think. If you would have started your day properly, like on time you would have been able to enjoy breakfast at home. Breakfast gives you a great energy boost for the day. It starts your morning off with a good amount of nutrients that are important for your brain and metabolism. It helps you maintain a positive mood throughout the day and can even promote weight loss.

Another thing breakfast can help you do is prevent overeating later on in the day. You know like at lunch when you had that huge meal. Okay, great. Breakfast does all these good things for you, but what do you eat?

Eggs are a great source of protein and fats in the morning. They also bring with them a good amount of vitamin D and calcium. Loading up your bowl with some whole grain cereal, oatmeal, or whole wheat toast is a great way to introducing carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals to your first meal of the day. These will help set up a good energy store allowing you to have an energized morning without a crazy sugar crash from lets say doughnuts or something sweet.

Adding some fruit or fruit juice can be very beneficial as well. They bring with them a great amount of vitamins and minerals. This is good for your metabolism, gives your immune systems a good boost, and helps refuel your body.

Wake up on time, eat your breakfast, and focus on you today.
